Gifts of Love
I've been thinking about my grandma lately. She passed away a little over a year ago, but I still think of her often. These crochet doilies are ones she made many years ago. I framed one for myself and my 2 sisters, so we can hang it on the wall and think of her and the many gifts of love she has shared with us. I wish I could call and ask her about planting my garden, telling her the newest funny things my preschooler has said, even sharing with her my adventures in crocheting.
I have been busy (not blogging) and working on Christmas gifts, orders for friends and learning new stitches and skills - I tried amigurumi for the first time because my daughters requested moana and mermaid dolls...
Through the past few months I have learned a lot about myself and crochet. I have learned that I love crochet for it's ability to relax me. I love that I can play with textures and colors and create something warm and snuggly or simply pretty. I love the creativity and feeling of accomplishment when I am able to dream up a pattern: design, develop and publish it.
Most of all, I love being able to give handmade gifts that are filled with my gentle touch and precious prayers. I love seeing the people I love wrap themselves in my yarn and enjoy the gifts I have worked so hard to make them.
Thank you, Grandma, for giving me many things, but especially for this gift of crochet to share with others.
